The Canigó is situated in the Conflent region, in the north of the country and which is under the political and territorial administration of the french State.

Asides from it's great beauty, the Canigó physically guards a lot of the towns in Northern Catalonia, and is one of the geographic references of the capital of Conflent: Prada. It is here in Prada that every summer The Catalan Summer University.
