The campaign "One country, one flag", is a call to all of the town councils in Catalonia to hang from the balcony of all town hall buildings the Catalan flag as the symbol of unity of our country. All through its long history, Catalonia has been constructed due to the efforts and contributions of generations of catalan men and women. These people, along with people arrived from other lands who set down their roots here, have all added to the project of transforming Catalonia into a country which is tolerant, unified, unique and a lover of liberty. The promoters behind the campaign wish to contribute to the social cohesion which is the basis of progression. For this, we have shown ourselves as dedicated to encouraging the use of, and respect for, the catalan language and culture. And specifically, on this occasion, we asked for the deference of our symbols. Each one having their own political viewpoint and belonging to all of the political parties of the catalan parliamentary spectrum, the promoters are all united in this campaign in order that we may ensure that the symbols which identify us are for all catalan men and women. In light of this, we proclaim that, "all the nations of the world have the right to use their symbols freely". We would ask all the town councils of Catalonia to hang only the Catalan flag from the balconies of all the town halls. We believe that the representatives of the councils should behave in the same way as the people of the town which they represent. On September 11th, the national day of Principality of Catalonia, we ask them to do so. We denounce article 4 in the Spanish constitution as an unjust law, because it prevents the catalan people from freely using their flag. A group of the promoting organisers of the Campaign |
