"La Muixeranga", is known in Catalonia as a "dance of Valencians", and it is, for a lot of experts, the predecessor of the human castles (a catalan tradition). It is not so much a dance, as a scene, a frame which begins and is added to until a tower (castle) of people is raised, which is completed when a child stands on the top. The music is simple and emotional, with a strong rythm which serves as a guide when constructing the towers. Joan Fuster (a renowned Catalan writer and philosopher), claims it as a national enduring anthem for the entire country.
